VCA Names Greene as Chief Executive Officer
Washington, D.C. (September 7, 2006) – Andrea Gluck, chairman of the Vision Council of America (VCA), today announced industry veteran Ed Greene as chief executive officer (CEO) for the organization. Greene will begin in his new position effective immediately.
”We are very pleased to welcome Ed on board as CEO,” said Gluck. “His knowledge of the vision community will be a major asset to the organization and will certainly help us in achieving our goal of growing the eyewear and eyecare industry.”
Greene comes to VCA with 30 years experience in the optical industry. He began his career with a focus in marketing, working for Schott Glass, Coburn Optical and Titmus Optical. In 1989, he became president and CEO of Titmus Optical, serving for nine years. Greene then moved to Carl Zeiss Optical, Inc., where he led the company as president and CEO for 10 years and served as vice president of Americas for business development. After retiring from Carl Zeiss in 2006, Greene formed his own optical consulting firm, On the Edge, Inc.
Prior to the merger of the Vision Industry Council of America (VICA) and the Optical Manufacturers Association which created VCA, Greene served as VICA’s president. He has also held several volunteer posts throughout the optical community, as well as in several business associations.
“I am very excited to work with VCA and its members to advance and better the vision industry,” stated Greene. “Bill Thomas has done a tremendous job with the organization and I look forward to leading VCA to continued success.”
