The Vision Council to Deliver Standards and Compliance Seminars in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong
Alexandria, VA (July 11, 2013) - The Vision Council, in partnership with the Wenzhou Spectacles Association, Taiwan Spectacles Association and the Hong Kong Optical Manufacturers Association, will be conducting a series of free, live seminars for various manufacturers and optical companies in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong, beginning today.
Our industry is witnessing significant changes to both U.S. based standards as well as federal and state compliance issues, which have a direct impact on the distribution of optical products, said Ed Greene, CEO of The Vision Council. These sessions have been developed with market fluctuations and government regulations in mind. We have targeted areas with significant optical manufacturing, providing us with an opportunity to engage international partners and educate our members' manufacturers about the retail landscape, customs issues, and other important standards and compliance updates. The marketplace is changing and its proactive initiatives like these that will help us to improve processes and lay the foundation for continued industry growth.
Led by The Vision Council's technical team, each of the three-hour seminars are designed to educate manufacturers about the critical changes affecting U.S. standards and government compliance in today's marketplace. Topics will cover standards and compliance in today's optical marketplace with an emphasis on best practices for U.S. importing and the impact of ANSI, ISO and ASTM standards updates on the distribution of optical products. The seminars were held in response to requests from member companies to aid component and device suppliers in Asia. In addition to delivering the sessions, the team completed an eight-day tour of Hong Kong, Xiamen and mainland China-based manufacturers to see many of the factories firsthand and to gain a better understanding of new engineering processes.
