Thomas I. Porter, O.D., F.A.A.O.

Thomas I. PorterThomas I. Porter is an assistant professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Saint Louis University's Eye Institute where he also serves as director of the Low Vision Service. He serves as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Saint Louis University as well as an adjunct clinical assistant professor of optometry at the University of Missouri-School of Optometry in St. Louis.

He is a diplomate fellow in the Low Vision Section of the American Academy of Optometry. Porter is a past president of the Missouri Optometric Association and was the 1988 recipient of its "Optometrist of the Year" award. He served on the Missouri State Board of Optometry and was elected its president in 1990. His practice has been limited to low vision care his entire 30-year career and has included both private practice as well academic settings.

Porter has written numerous articles and lectured extensively on his area of specialization, both nationally and internationally, and he is a regular contributor to several ophthalmic journals and newsletters.
