Standards and Compliance in Today's US Optical Marketplace
The US Optical Marketplace has undergone significant changes in US based standards as well as compliance issues at the federal and state levels ultimately impacting the distribution of optical products.
It's estimated that more than 85 percent of the optical products sold in the US marketplace are manufactured in China. To help educate the manufacturers in China, and to ensure compliance, The Vision Council's technical team conducted a series of technical/government compliance related seminars in June 2011. The seminars were held in regions with significant optical manufacturing with the goal of educating the manufactures about the changes occurring in the areas of US standards and government compliance.
