National Sunglasses Day 2016 Snags Top Media Relations Accolades

The Vision Council’s National Sunglasses Day 2016 campaign earned a Bronze Bulldog Media Relations Award for best use of social media in the business/consumer space via Bulldog Reporter, an organization dedicated to facilitating public relations and corporate communications professionals to achieve superior competitive performance. All Bulldog Awards in the Media Relations category are judged by award-winning journalists – this year’s judges hail from several top-tier outlets including The Washington PostUSA TodayForbes and The Oregonian.

National Sunglasses Day 2016 – The Vision Council’s campaign to promote the importance of UV-protective eyewear, which takes place annually on June 27 – garnered more than 586 million online, broadcast and social media impressions. Approximately 149 million of those impressions stemmed from social media placements via the celebrity Instagram pages of Joe Biden, Lea Michele, Pitbull, Victoria Beckham and Whitney Eve Port; the publication Instagram pages of BillboardCosmopolitanELLEMarie Claire and People; and the sports team Instagram pages of ESPN, the New York Yankees, the New England Patriots, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Carolina Panthers, among many others. Additionally, National Sunglasses Day was a “trending” topic on Facebook on June 27, 2016.
