EPIC - The Electronic Progressive Identifier Catalog
The Vision Council launched the Electronic Progressive Identifier Catalog (EPIC) – available for the first time in an online format in 2018. The website is the industry-standard guide to the identifying marks engraved on progressive addition lenses. Previously, the catalog was available for order in hard copy and pdf only.
This latest edition contains graphics for more than 350 lens designs distributed in the United States and Canada, showing the markings that identify the lens supplier, lens name, lens material, filters and corridor lengths. Diagrams include the relative position of the fitting cross, as well as the lens suppliers' recommended minimum fitting height. The catalog also contains several indexes, listing the lenses according to: identifying symbols, lens supplier name, minimum recommended height, lens name, extended range of add power, and custom progressive designs.
The Vision Council offers resources to assist member organizations with a variety of workplace operational issues, including Optical Product Code (OPC) management. Protect your lab, and customers, from cyber-criminals.
Viruses, phishing attacks and ransomware hidden in emails and other devices can cause loss of data, cripple your network and effectively stop your business—and your job—for days. To make sure cyber-security is top-of-mind in your lab and around your customers' offices, The Vision Council, in conjunction with danbailey.com, has developed a "quick tips" poster that can be placed in any work environment. Download this printable poster here to equip your lab and share with your customers. Consumer Education and Outreach
Consumer Education and Outreach Communicating the importance of vision care and vision care products to the public is a priority for The Vision Council. Through media relations, marketing and advertising campaigns, online outreach, special events and partnerships, The Vision Council makes sure that all consumers hear about the importance of taking care of their vision and are educated about the variety of eyewear options available to them. Current key topics include digital eye strain, UV protection and eyewear/sunwear fashion trends. In addition, The Vision Council is a proud supporter of the Think About Your Eyes national public awareness campaign for annual eye exams.
The Vision Council's Lab Division is working to raise the tide for the industry at large with its "One pair won't work" campaign, aimed at driving the sales of multiple pairs. The campaign utilizes poster displays, dispensing table displays and job stuffers to encourage patients to talk to their eyecare provider about the need for multiple pairs, and ultimately purchase multiple pairs of frames with different lenses to meet their unique eyewear needs and complement their lifestyles. The materials lead patients to therightglasses.com, where they can learn about the various lens technologies available and how to pick the right glasses for their needs. Find out how to get involved and access the campaign materials here.
