Think About Your Eyes Share Eye Health Advice with Students and Teachers
Last week, Think About Your Eyes participated in Fuel Up to Play 60's Student Ambassador Summit. FUTP60, a result of a partnership between the National Dairy Council and the NFL, encourages today's youth to develop healthy habits around diet and exercise. The Student Ambassador Summit brought 250 middle and high school students and 150 faculty advisors to Cleveland to share ideas around diet and exercise, build leadership skills, and to learn new ways to educate their peers about a healthy lifestyle.
TAYE participated as a sponsor, hosting a booth in the Expo Zone which each attendee passed through. On opening night, TAYE created a red carpet experience, with selfie stations where students and advisors could model different eyewear supplied by TAYE partners Eschenbach, Essilor, Hilco Vision and Transitions. They also had the opportunity to experience contact lenses, supplied by Alcon.
The following days, the TAYE booth transformed into a sports obstacle course. Assisted by Ohio State University College of Optometry students and representatives from the Ohio Optometric Association, TAYE offered attendees the opportunity to complete sports tasks (throwing a football, playing mini-golf) with impaired vision to demonstrate the need for healthy vision for physical activity. Additionally, TAYE hosted a "plinko" game tied to ocular nutrition, quizzed students on UV protection, and provided a VR experience showcasing a world with vision impairment, all while discussing the importance of an annual eye exam.
The 400 summit attendees will take their learnings back to their schools, impacting 270,000 students.
Special thanks to the Ohio State University College of Optometry, the Ohio Optometric Association for their on-site support during the event. TAYE's participation in this event was possible due to the support of 19 industry partners.
