Optical Consumer Insights During the COVID-19 Pandemic

COVID-19 has significantly impacted businesses and our day-to-day life over the last 11 months and the optical industry is not immune to that impact. The Vision Council’s research team presented these updates during the 2021 Executive Summit on the studies that are being conducted on an on-going basis by The Vision Council to monitor and track the impact of COVID-19 on patient eye exam and optical consumer purchasing behaviors.

Healthcare Behavior and Consumer Spending Insights During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Vision Council’s research team presented findings from a recent proprietary study conducted in partnership with Morning Consult, a global data intelligence company. This research was conducted at the beginning of January 2021 and covered broad healthcare behavior and consumer spending patterns during and after COVID-19. The analysis includes a comparison of eye exams to other healthcare-related exams and appointments, as well as a comparison of optical product spending to other consumer product and healthcare spending categories.
